History of CEWL - before the season

 

Central Europe Women League (CEWL) has been created from the initiative of the Czech Basketball Federation in 2007.

FIBA Europe recognized CEWL as a official competition by the decision of the Board of FIBA Europe on 11 November, 2007

 

CEWL 2007/2008

First part:

before season 4 tournaments in 4 participating countries:

Group A - Rybnik (POL), Karlovy Vary (CZE), Nitra (SVK)

Group B - Wels (AUT), Valosun Brno (CZE), Slovan Bratislava (SVK)

Group C - Sparta Praha (CZE), Strakonice (CZE), Victoria Košice (SVK), Herzogenburg (AUT)

Group D - Banská Bystrica (SVK), Hradec Králové (CZE), Poznaň (POL), Casovia Košice (SVK)

 

The best two teams from the groups of 3 teams and three best teams from the groups of 4 teams qualified to the second part

 

Second part:

group E - Sparta Praha, Banská Bystrica, Karlovy Vary, Wels, Strakonice

group F - Rybnik, Valosun Brno, Nitra, Hradec Králové, Victoria Košice

 

Final Four: in Banska Bystrica (SVK) 1st - Banska Bystrica, 2nd Karlovy Vary, 3rd Nitra, 4th Rybnik

 

 

CEWL 2008/2009

10 teams

 

Group A - Nitra (SVK) Karlovy Vary (CZE), FF Wien (AUT), BSS Košice (SVK), Strakonice (CZE)

Group B - Valosun Brno (CZE), Prešov (SVK), Cassovia Košice (SVK), Oradea (ROM), Wels (AUT); WELS withdrew during the season - all games were annulated

 

Final Four: in Karlovy Vary (CZE) 1st Nitra, 2nd Valosun Brno, 3rd Karlovy Vary, 4th Prešov

 

 

CEWL 2009/2010

6 teams

 

Group A - Prešov(SVK), Trutnov (CZE), Wien (AUT)

Group B - BSS Košice (SVK), Satu Mare (ROM), Valosun Brno (CZE)

 

Final Four: in Prešov (SVK) 1st Trutnov, 2nd Prešov, 3rd Košice, 4th Satu Mare

 

 

CEWL 2010/2011

9 teams

 

Group A - Prešov (SVK), Trutnov (CZE), Wasserburg (GER), Hradec Králové (CZE), VŠ Praha (CZE)

Group B - Arad (ROM), Valosun Brno (CZE), Slovanka MB (CZE), Wien (AUT)

 

Final Four: in Arad (ROM) 1st Arad, 2nd Prešov, 3rd Trutnov, 4th Wien

 

 

CEWL 2011/2012:

8 teams

 

Group A - Satu Mare (ROM), Trutnov (CZE), Poprad (SVK), Valosun Brno (CZE)

Group B - VŠ Praha (CZE), Arad (ROM), Wasserburg (GER), Slovanka MB (CZE)

 

Final Four: in Wasserburg (GER) 1st Trutnov, 2nd Arad, 3rd Satu Mare, 4th Wasserburg

 

 

CEWL 2012/2013:

7 teams

 

Group A – Miskolc (HUN), Trutnov (CZE), Wien (AUT)

Group B – Arad (ROM), Valosun Brno (CZE), Spišská Nová Ves (SVK), DSK Basketball (CZE)

 

Final Four: in Brno (CZE): 1st Arad, 2nd Miskolc, 3rd Valosun, 4th Trutnov
