Newcomer Ostrava celebrates victory in their first CEWL game

 

SBS - SVSHome premiere of SBS Ostrava in Central Europe Women League was successful. The CEWL newcomer beat it very close game the bronze medal team of the last CEWL season Flying Foxes SVS Post.

 

The Austrian team came to Ostrava only with seven players, from which played only six girls. Nevertheless Flying Foxes thought to victory to the last seconds of the game. Hallie Christofferrson, that played from the bench, missed only one rebound to completing tripple-double. She collected 25 points, 11 rec. fouls and 9 rebounds.

 

Home team found in their roster four players, who attacked double figures in the points. The best scorer of home team was Elana Novikova with 17 points. It is the first victory for young team of SBS Ostrava in the current season, because Ostrava still waiting for the first success in the Czech league.

 

CEWL will continue next weak.

Tomas Petivlas (coach of SBS Ostrava): "Our opponent came with only seven players. We were leading all the time, but we didn't manage to gain higher leading. We were stopped by turnovers and we didn't play easy fast breaks. We had to play in offense against very well organized zone defense and match went to the close end. We played well in the end of game and gain our first victory."
