Spisska Nova Ves ended with only four players, Nymburk won

It was the fight on the first CEWL season victory for both teams. Basketball Nymburk took advantage of the home court and made big step to staying in the fight of Final 4. Is it the third lost for Spisska Nova Ves and Slovak team will have really tough work, if they want to take part on Final 4 tournament.

It was very close game, both teams changed in the leading during the game. Home Nymburk decided about theirs victory in the second half of third quarter. Nymburk won these five minutes about seven points. When they had advantage of 10 points five minutes before the end of game, everybody expected the victory of home team, however only five points in the last five minutes was a little complication.

Slovak team had only seven players ready to play. They played really nice game with this handicap. For example Julia Gladkova made all 10 free throws and was with 24 points the best scorer of the game. Only two points less scored Nina Bogicevic, but Spisska Nova Ves lost the game on the rebounding (33 – 56). Three players of Spisska Nova Ves were fouled out in the end of the game, so Slovak team had to play only with four players on the court.

Two players in the home team completed double-double and one was really close. Rolle Waltiea was with 19 points (and 10 rebounds) the best scorer of home team, Jacinta Monroe added 16 points and 11 rebounds. Czech national team former player Veronika Bortelova collected 17 points and 9 rebounds.

Dan Kurucz, Basketball Nymburk: “Opponent underestimated us, maybe, because they arrived without two key players Palusna and Laskova. We were in the full power. We played well on the beginning and it looks like a easy game. Players on the court thought it, maybe. We were late by the players in defense, they could pass the ball how they want and made open shots. Key was our better defense in the third quarter. We were better on the rebound in the second half. We won today thanks fighting and rebounds.”

David Demecko, Runcon Spisska Nova Ves: “It looked bad with us on the beginning. Nymburk scored all their points from the paint. We should try to foul, maybe. But... We played a good game her, I mean. The ball moved very well and we had open shots. Home team played more aggressively in the second half. They have really experienced players. If we made two or three shots on the end, it could be thriller game, maybe.”
